EP 4: Disrupting Domestic and Sexual Violence with Pamela Zaballa

In this episode of The Disruption Podcast, Tracey and Michelle are honored to be joined by Pamela Zaballa, CEO of NO MORE, a leading global nonprofit organization. NO MORE works tirelessly across sectors, industries, and organizations to end domestic and sexual violence by increasing awareness, inspiring action, and fueling culture change. With more than 1,700 allied organizations worldwide, NO MORE creates public awareness campaigns, educational resources, and community organizing tools available to everyone free of charge, and advises leaders in all sectors on responses and prevention.

Pamela has worked to support victims of domestic and sexual violence for the past 20 years, both in her role as CEO of NO MORE and well prior to that, by creating and setting up direct support services, as well as preventing abuse and assault from occurring in the first place. Tracey and Michelle take listeners with them through a fascinating discussion with Pamela, starting with her experience working in a women’s prison in Honduras and how that impacted her and drove her career focus. They also discuss the serious misconception surrounding the fact that gender-based violence is a global epidemic and how lack of funding affects the expansion and impact of nonprofit organizations fighting to stop gender-based violence.  The hosts dig into generational differences and the ways domestic and sexual violence are perceived with Pamela and explain why technology-facilitated abuse should be taken more seriously. This discussion empowers the listeners and wraps with how listeners can get involved with the fight against gender-based violence on an individual level with an eye towards disruption of this pandemic on a global level.
